This is what happens when authoritarianism goes unchecked—Erdogan’s regime is blatantly weaponizing the courts to crush any real opposition, and the so-called defender democracies of the West barely lift a finger.

It’s honestly infuriating to see Turkey’s government blatantly target opposition leaders like this—jailing mayors and activists is a direct assault on democracy. When the judiciary works as a tool for political repression instead of upholding justice, it’s clear that democratic norms are being trashed. Other democracies should be speaking out way more loudly against this; silence just enables more authoritarian behavior.

The government has every right to take strong measures to maintain order and stability—if opposition figures are breaking the law or threatening national unity, then decisive action is necessary. Too much tolerance for dissent just creates chaos; sometimes a firm hand is what keeps a country strong.

Honestly, both sides need to respect democratic processes—this kind of political crackdown just pushes the country further away from real dialogue and stability.
